Founded in 1992, Bioengineering Group is a woman-owned science and engineering consulting and design firm known for its pioneering application of sustainability principles to site planning, development, stormwater and energy management.  The firm employs an interdisciplinary staff of 62 ecologists, earth scientists, engineers, and landscape design professionals, 45% of whom are women, led by founder and CEO Wendi Goldsmith.

Bioengineering Group serves private clients as well as the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and other public agencies.  The firm’s mission is “Building sustainable communities on an ecological foundation.” A current project is the provision of engineering, program management, and construction management services for the hurricane and flood protection system for the city of New Orleans.

Bioengineering Group’s headquarters building in Salem, MA was designed in keeping with US Green Building Council principles and features sustainable flooring, carpet, paint, and lighting.  Renovations in the works include a green roof and solar and geothermal energy.
